Kathy loved running. Many we know who are runners today are running because of encouragement they received from Kathy. So, whether you are a marathoner or recreational walker/runner, we hope you will exercise and be inspired by Kathy to stay in shape.
We have made t-shirts and wristbands and are making them available for free to anyone who wants one (SEE MERCHANDISE PAGE). We also want to encourage runners to run “for Kathy.” By wearing a t-shirt or wristband, you can take Kathy and her memories along with you. In the upcoming November 13, 2010 Richmond Marathon, Half-Marathon and 8-K races, there are many who will be running because of Kathy and displaying their desire to “Run for Kathy” by wearing a t-shirt or wristband. How exciting!!!
Races also provide opportunities to run with the additional purposes of raising awareness of the Kathy Ivins Fund – and of raising money for the Fund. We want to encourage anyone who desires to raise awareness for the Fund or to fundraise for the Fund to do so. You can, for example, have people pledge to donate to the Fund a certain amount for each mile that you run for Kathy or you can challenge others to enter a race, run for Kathy and donate to the Fund as a part of their journey.
We’d love to know you are doing this; so please let us know so we can thank you! And, whether you are raising money for the Fund or are having others donate, just simply have any such contributions delivered as explained on the FUND/MAKING A CONTRIBUTION part of the site.
We cannot thank you enough, and we want to encourage you – as Kathy would – to live a healthy life and to stay fit. As she and her fellow Seal Teamers would say, “Hoo Yah!”
